It is common to disinfect toilets, sinks and counters with bleach or other harsh chemicals that only leave behind a strong, unpleasant odor. Sometimes an odor so suffocating that it causes you to leave the sparkling room before you even get a chance to enjoy it. But cleaning products do not have to be so assaultive to your body and surroundings. A more natural and aromatic way to clean is to use essential oils. Essential oils are liquids distilled from flowers, trees, roots, bushes, shrubs and seeds, and they were actually humankind’s first medicine. Read on to learn how to clean with essential oils.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Each oil has different properties and certain ones can protect the immune system, enhance your mood, stimulate or regenerate tissues and nerves, oxygenate cells and even destroy odors. Look on the Internet and decide which one is best suitable for your needs.
Step2
Visit a local natural health food store or go online to purchase the essentials oils you will need.
Step3
In a spray bottle, add 30 drops of an essential oil to 8 oz. of water. Lemon like other citrus fruits is a natural antibacterial and antiseptic, and cinnamon can be used too as an antifungal, antiviral and antimicrobial.
Step4
Spray your personalized cleaning product on counter tops, floors, toilets and other surfaces. Because essential oils are so powerful, you do not need to use a lot.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are interested in applying essential oils to the skin for a specific health issue, it is best to consult a doctor first.
