Liquid makeup or foundation has changed through the years. The cosmetic industry has improved the makeup formulas and color hues to ensure a healthy, natural look. This makeup has been enriched with nutrients and skin enhancing qualities. The key to liquid makeup is to get a “perfect match” to your skin tone. It is important to make sure the color you choose matches your skin completely. Read on to learn how to get a perfect match with liquid makeup.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Liquid makeup in different shades and colors
  • Cotton swabs or makeup sponges
  • Clean skin surface
  • Mirror
  1. Step 1

Visit a cosmetic counter at your favorite department store or drug store in order to test the makeup color before you purchase it.

  2. Step 2

Decide what formula of liquid makeup will best fit your needs. If you have oily skin then a water-based makeup is best. For dry skin a moisturizing makeup may be your best choice.

  3. Step 3

Apply a small amount of makeup to a clean jaw line or on the inner part of your forearm. Be sure to cleanse the skin first to remove any old makeup or oil before applying the liquid makeup to your skin’s surface.

  4. Step 4

Examine the area where the makeup was applied and see if you can see the color. A makeup that matches the skin color will disappear when applied. For a “perfect match” you should not be able to see the makeup or any color on the skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the color of liquid makeup you choose matches your neck so you don’t have a makeup line.
  • Stand in natural light if possible to get the best result from your color match.
  • If you are matching the makeup on your fore-arm match it in an area where the sun does not hit, this will help ensure the skin is the same color as your face and neck.
  • Decide what skin tone you have; cool or warm. The cool tone has pink undertones and the warm skin tone has yellow undertones. If you know your skin tone then you can focus on liquid makeup with the right color of undertones.
