Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Search for online classes in psychology, sociology and personal development. You should be able to find many for free or very cheap, especially if you don’t care for a certificate at the end of the course. Take the classes as a way to understand yourself and your goals better so you can overcome your fears.
Step2
Make a list of your goals, broken down into small steps. While there is nothing wrong with having long term goals, the truth is that they can be overwhelming and make you feel like you are not achieving anything at all. Have big goals but make sure you also have smaller ones that can be achieved over the short term, so you can see progress.
Step3
Follow the advice of BeYourOwnCoach, a series of online lessons geared to help you get your life in order and reach your goals as fast and effectively as possible (see Resources below). The lessons offered are free and contain bullet lists, exercises and suggestions to help you make the most of each topic.
Step4
Practice self-affirmations. You may not believe in yourself from the beginning, but that doesn’t mean you can’t push yourself. If you have trouble being positive, use self-affirming quotes and paste them around the house in places where you would see them all the time. Or practice encouraging yourself before a difficult task and then praising your own achievements, not matter how small.
