First, see how the other person feels about smoking. He may not care if you smoke around him. On the other hand, she may be very against it.

Step2

If your date doesn't like to be around smoke, make sure that you don't smoke around them. If you have to smoke, go outside.

Step3

No matter if your date says they care or not, never smoke in enclosed areas with them. Not only is it rude, secondhand smoke is very bad for the health. Just think, you have a filter straining out some of the toxins, the person on the other end of the cigarette doesn't.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure you never blow smoke toward the other person.
Be polite. Think of how you would feel if you were in their shoes.
Never make fun of someone for not smoking.

on 3/4/2008 all good but i would add never hide the fact that you are a smoker it's an important issue to some people and they will find out anyway which can lead to problems that shoul've been avoided

on 12/7/2007 Ouch! I am just not sure that I could be banned outside of my own house to smoke for life if I was to really hit it off with a nonsmoker. I follow these tips with my friends who do not smoke I am not sure it would be so easier with someone your dating.
