If you travel a great deal for business, hotels become a way of life. Here are some tips and tricks for surviving the inevitable issues we all face.

From Quick Guide: Hotel Stays
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A neck pillow
  • Scented candles and/or incense
  • An iPod or cellular phone with an alarm function
  • Bottled water
  • Tea bags
  1. Step 1

Use your neck pillow both on the airplane as as a supplement to the usually flat hotel pillows.

  2. Step 2

If you are mistakenly given a smoking room, or your room smells funny--use your candles or incense to freshen it up.

  3. Step 3

Set your phone or iPod alarm instead of relying on the hotel to wake you up, or the bedside alarm clock to work.

  4. Step 4

Carrying bottles of water in your suitcase will spare you from drinking over chlorinated hotel water.

  5. Step 5

Soak the tea bags in water, and place them over your eyes if you have puffy "airplane" eyes.

  6. Step 6

Use your iPod and headphones with soothing music if you need to drown out noises in the next room, or hotel bar.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your room is dirty or appliances are not working, don't be afraid to call and get it changed.
  • Avoid minibars--the prices are exorbitant!
