  • A big heart

How to Be a True Chicago Cubs Fan

  1. Step 1

Know where they play. Wrigley Field, the home of the Cubs since 1916, is one of the last great ballparks. It still has the manual scoreboard, and only within the last 20 years was it outfitted with lights for night games.

  2. Step 2

Know Wrigley's nickname. "The Friendly Confines."

  3. Step 3

Yes, the ivy is supposed to be on the outfield walls. The lush green ivy has long been a trademark of Wrigley field, though it provides little padding for outfielders crashing into the brick wall beneath.

  4. Step 4

Know who Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, and Ryne Sandberg were--at least those few.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be prepared for a long season.
  • Be happy you're not a White Sox fan.
  • The Cubs could cause indigestion.
