From social situations to business networks, the person with self-confidence is the one who usually achieves more, whether that means a promotion, pay raise or more enjoyment in life. If you are the one standing in the corner or watching that promotion go to your coworker time and time again, then you need to gain self-confidence. After all, no one can be confident in you if you are not confident in yourself. Gaining self-confidence may seem difficult but it is simply a matter of becoming intentional.

      Dress the part. Dressing in a way that bolsters confidence is one way to help gain self-confidence. Try bright colors that enhance your appearance and make sure your outfit is ironed and neat. Avoid baggy clothes that make you feel sloppy and opt for items that will instead accentuate your best features.

      Step out of your comfort zone. Each day, strive to do a little something that makes you uncomfortable. Start by entering into a conversation that you would normally avoid. Offer to do a small task for someone that will demonstrate your abilities. As you gain confidence, you will be able to attack the bigger things like asking for a promotion or raise.

      Be assertive. If you have an idea, present it to your boss. Be the first to jump in on the next project your boss is trying to assign to someone. In an argument, stand your ground and make your case.

      Encourage yourself. It is okay to be proud of your achievements. If you lose weight, it is acceptable to show off your new figure. If your project was successful, it is find to allow others to compliment your efforts. Tell yourself every day that you can achieve whatever you want. Before long, you will begin to believe it and show everyone your newfound self-confidence.
