Tips & Warnings
  • The cake can be made well in advance and frozen. Thaw at room temperature and frost on Valentine’s Day.
  • Kitchen stores, television cooking shows and February issues of magazines are sure to have plenty of inspiration for a very special cake. Check them out.
  • Hiding a present in the cake offers an extra special surprise. Make sure the gift can withstand the heat of 350 degree F oven.
  • Paper doilies and aluminum foil dress up a plain surface to place the cake.

on 1/1/2009 Years ago, when we still used records instead of CD's, it was popular to serve this cake on a record album by covering the album cover with tin foil. It made a perfect size platter for this cake, as well as seving as a gift! Now maybe we could just figure out how to make a teeny-weeny version of this heart shaped cake to serve up on CD's! Great article, nice pics.
