  • Hair trimming scissors
  • A mirror
  • A towel

    How to Trim Relaxed Hair

  1. Step 1

Blow out hair completely straight, down and section into four, one part down the middle and one part across the middle.

  2. Step 2

Look at ends of the hair in each section. If the ends look "see through" or split, dust the ends of hair lightly with scissors.

  3. Step 3

Go through each section and repeat.

  4. Step 4

After trimming, the hair should have a more even look without spaces or gaps.

  5. Step 5

Comb hair and style as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • ALWAYS get a trim after a relaxer. The chemicals in the relaxer touch the ends and will eventually cause breakage.
  • Don't try to hold on to split or damaged ends. If you don't trim them, they will travel up the hair shaft causing you to eventually cut more then you really want to.
  • Make sure you or stylists uses good, sharp scissors of a better trim.
  • Always agree with your stylist on how much you want to trim, not cut.
