How to Be Sexy and Single At A Wedding

  1. Step 1

If you did RSVP with a +1, don't correct it. By this time, the bride already has a million things to do without worrying about her seating placement. Discreetly pull an attendant to the side once your get to the wedding and explain.

  2. Step 2

Psyche yourself up the day of the wedding. Take a long bath or give yourself a day of beauty. Don't dwell on the fact that your going to a wedding solo, just think: you won't have to make boring small talk and you get to eat as much cake as you want!

  3. Step 3

Make sure you look absolutely fabulous, but don't try and distract from the bride. Great dress, shoes and clutch will make you feel much better and will take the attention of the fact that you are solo. Be beautiful, but understated, remember, it's not your day.

  4. Step 4

Once you arrive at the wedding, sit in a pew, aisle or seat on the bride or groom's side that has more friends then couples. In fact, try and sit in a row that is couple-less, this way you can blend in nicely. Try to find some family members you know and sit with them. Don't sit near the back, you will look glaringly single!

  5. Step 5

Keep your eye open for cute, single men. Fresh faces from in and out of town can really be a nice distraction at a wedding. Usually, they'll be groomsmen, ushers, co-workers or friends of the family.

An unmarried guy at a wedding is a diamond or a dog. Either he's been looking for you all his life, hence the reason he's single OR he's been looking for you, your girlfriends, your aunt and your third-grade teacher, hence the reason he's single.

Either way, this is a great place to meet a new guy. Plus, he's trapped for at least three hours and the abundance of lighting will allow you to see all imperfections up close!

  6. Step 6

Take the reception in stride. Drop of your presents at the gift table and find your place card, if they have them. Explain to the attendant that you are dateless and you are OK with finding new seating. Make sure they don't stick you at a table with kids!

  7. Step 7

If it's open seating at the reception, find some favorite couple friends and sit with them. Have a good gossip and enjoy the conversation.

  8. Step 8

Take the reception in stride. Drink champagne in moderation in case you don't have a designated driver. Dance with everyone that asks you, especially the cute, single guys. Take lots of pictures. Eat a slice of cake or two. Make a half-hearted attempt to catch the bouquet, but be cool, don't go all NFL linebacker over a tradition that may or may not actually work!

  9. Step 9

Don't get drunk, act obnoxiously, bad-mouth the bride or request "In Da' Club" so you can grind with the groom. This will cement a non-invite to anything else the newlyweds may be having and will also make you THAT single girl that makes everyone, including the cute single guys say, "Uh huh, I see why she's single!"

  10. Step 10

Kiss the bride and groom, grab an extra slice of cake and go home! Think about what a great time you had at the wedding. Then, take out the phone number of that cute single guy, put it by your phone and call him within 48 hours. After all, you may need a date for your next wedding!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you still feel funny about going solo, then volunteer at the wedding. Let your pal know you would love to usher folks to their seats or man the gift table.
