Things You'll Need:
- A bottle of club soda
- A dry cloth or two
- A sponge
- A small scrub brush
-
Step 1
If the carpet stain is fresh (wet), absorb extra moisture by blotting the stain with a clean, dry cloth. In many cases, this will absorb part of the stain as well, thereby making the job even easier.
-
Step 2
Apply a small amount of club soda to the stain and allow it to carbonate (fizz) into the stain. Do not saturate the stain but merely cover it.
-
Step 3
For new stains, allow about 15 minutes for the club soda to work. For set-in stains, 15 to 30 minutes may be necessary.
-
Step 4
After the club soda has set in, gently rub the stain with a damp sponge or a scrub brush, using circular motions. The tougher the stain, the more you need to scrub the area, but be careful not to ruin the carpet by over-scrubbing.
-
Step 5
After the stain is removed, absorb excess liquid with a dry, clean cloth.
