Building a Gingerbread House - a great activity when you're snowed in, bored, or just in the mood to do something holiday-esque.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • graham crackers (or gingerbread slabs for you serious types)
  • royal icing
  • various candy (gum drops, candy canes, and anything else that could be used in a decorative fashion)

Step1
Break the gingerbread into squares. Using four pieces, use the royal icing on the corners as a "glue," applying it to piece together the pieces in a square formation. Using two pieces, create a rooftop and apply.
Step2
Using the candy, decorate the house to your heart's content. Use candy canes as lamp posts, use a chocolate bar as a door, use gumdrops as a flower garden, m&m's as shingles.
Step3
Either set it out to enjoy or eat right away!

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a pastry bag to apply the royal icing. You can buy disposable ones for very cheap at the grocery store in the cake mix aisle.
  • Putting together the house can be tricky - work with different shapes and variations until you find one that works for you.
