Step 1
Despite their short and stout frame, pugs can be quite adept at agility training. An agility trial gives your dog the chance to run, jump and crawl while receiving large amounts of praise. Any pug with a large amount of energy will love agility training.

Step 2
Become a therapy dog for a hospital or assisted-living facility. No one can resist a smile when they see a pug face, and because of their friendly personalities and their small size, pugs are great for sitting in laps and giving kisses. Plus, any pug will love the chance to be loved and adored.

Step 3
Prepare your pug for the Canine Good Citizen test. The CGC tests your pug on good behavior--how she reacts in response to everyday occurrences like meeting strangers, walking through a crowd and sitting still through a physical examination.

Step 4
Junior Showmanships are a great way to entertain both your children and your pug. Sponsored by the American Kennel Club, children show their purebred animals in a type of dog show. A Junior Showmanship dog show is different from adult dog shows in that the dog is not being judged by appearance. The child is judged for the handling of the dog and the dog is judged on his behavior. Pugs are a great breed for this tournament, because they are small enough for a child to handle.
