Poker games have set limits to determine the amount of money you can bet during the poker hand. The poker limits vary from game to game, but most are available in all of the different forms of poker. Whether you are planning on playing Texas Holdem, Omaha Holdem, 7-card Stud, Draw or any other type of poker, you will have most of these poker betting limits available for each. You will usually find many betting limits in most poker establishments. The majority of the places offering poker will have several low limit games, and also many high limit ones for you to choose from. It doesn’t matter if you are playing poker in a casino, a poker room or even online poker; you should be familiar with the betting limits of the poker game.

Things You'll Need:

  • Poker game
  1. Step 1

Fixed limit is a very popular type of poker game limit. Poker games using a fixed betting limit have a set bet amount. These games are known as: $1/$2, $5/$10, $20/$40 and so on. The lower amount is the minimum bet used during the beginning and early rounds of a poker hand. The higher amount usually becomes the minimum bet during the later rounds of the same hand.

  2. Step 2

Spread limit is another common poker limit found. Poker games using a spread limit offer a range of amounts to bet. This type of poker game is known as: $1 to $5, $5 to $10, and so on. Poker players who play in this type of game have the option to place any bet in the amount from the lowest to highest number at any time during the poker round.

  3. Step 3

Half-pot limit is very common in Europe, but not usually found in American poker games. It is very similar to pot limit except (as the name implies), you are limited to betting no more than half of the total amount in the pot at any betting round.

  4. Step 4

Pot limit is considered a high-limit game and very popular among more advanced poker players. When you play in this type of a limit game, you have the option of betting any amount from the blind bet (usually the big blind if there are two blinds) up to the total amount of money in the pot at any time.

  5. Step 5

No limit is the highest limit game in poker. Poker players have the option of placing a bet in any amount between the blind and the total amount of money, which they have at the poker table. This can be done during any of the poker betting rounds.

Tips & Warnings
