If you're in need of a quick, cheap and easy table, you're in luck. This 2-by-4 project is exactly what you want. It's fun, functional, lightweight and looks pretty cool. Check it out.
Before you begin. Remember that 2-by-4s aren't actually 2 inches x 4 inches. They are actually 1 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
Step2
Make these cuts: 8 pieces at 59 7/8 inches (top) 4 pieces at 27 3/4 inches (legs) 3 pieces at 56 7/8 inches (long rails) 2 pieces at 26 1/2 inches (support braces) 4 pieces at 21 1/2 inches (short rails)
Step3
Sand. It's the most tedious step, but you will thank yourself later. Use 120 or 220 grit sandpaper. Make sure you sand all the ends as well.
Step4
table end
Lay a 27 3/4 inch piece on its back (the 3 1/2 inch side). Make an "L" by laying a 21 1/2 inch piece flush with the end. Attach. Now Make a squared off "U" by attaching another 27 3/4 inch piece. Measure 6 inches from the opposite end on both 27 3/4 inch pieces and attach another 21 1/2 inch piece. Then make an identical frame. See image.
Step5
top view
Attach these 2 frames with 2 rails that are 56 7/8 inches long. Place them even with the top 21 1/2 inch pieces. Center the other long rail on the bottom 21 1/2 inch pieces and attach.
Step6
