When backpacking, weight is key. The first thing you should allow to take up weight is an adequate hydration system. Second is your first-aid kit. It’s not that they have to be heavy, but it is important to have everything you need.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Plan a spot in your pack where your first-aid kit can stay. A small exterior pocket is great.
Step2
Invest in something to keep your supplies waterproof.
Step3
Must-haves include hand sanitizer, plastic gloves, bandages in a few assorted sizes, bug spray, stomach medicine, headache medicine, pain relief medicine, bandaging material and a thermometer.
Step4
Nice things to have include butterfly bandages, prescription pain medication and first-aid book.
