How to Make A Crockpot Wassail

Wassail is an old European warmed punch that was often served during the holidays. If you have a crockpot, you can make a wonderful wassail that will fill your home with holiday scents and warm your guests.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A crockpot
  • One bottle of Chardonnay or other white wine
  • An orange
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • Whole cloves
  • 5 whole allspice berries
  • Pineapple juice
  • Orange juice
  • Apple juice

Step1
Pour two cups each of orange and apple juice into the crockpot.
Step2
Add one cup of pineapple juice to the mixture.
Step3
Add the entire bottle of white wine.
Step4
Press the whole cloves into the orange until it is covered. Add it to the liquid in the crockpot.
Step5
Add the cinnamon sticks and allspice berries to the crockpot.
Step6
Turn the crockpot on low, and let the flavors blend for roughly three hours.
Step7
Remove the orange, allspice berries and cinnamon sticks from the crockpot. Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • It is best to use low-pulp orange juice.
  • For an exotic flavor, try substituting one cup of of the orange juice with mango juice.
  • Be sure to turn your crockpot to warm if left on for more than 3 hours, otherwise your liquids can evaporate.
