How to Host Tarry and Talk at Church

Tarry and talk allows members of your church to gather and socialize after church on Sundays. It's a great way for people to meet other guests who might have arrived that day too. With some light snacks and drinks, you can have a tarry and talk moment with all the members of your church.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Light snacks or desserts
• Punch or juice
• Coffee
• Paper plates and cups
• Coffee mugs
• Plastic silverware

1. Take a tablecloth to put over a table in the gathering area for church. Have plates and napkins available and necessary silverware if needed.
2. Prepare a light snack for tarry and talk. Use snacks such as pretzels, crackers and dips, homemade treats, or anything else that is easy yet light.
3. Make some coffee for those who still need a little bit of waking up. Also have juice or other punches available for those who won't be drinking coffee.
4. Be sure there is a trashcan or somewhere to dispose of plates and cups after everybody is finished.
5. Leave out a signup sheet for those who can volunteer to host tarry and talk for the next Sunday of church.

Tips & Warnings

• Be sure to have enough drinks and snacks available for everyone to have after church.
• Dismiss yourself quietly from church service early so you can set up for tarry and talk.
