Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Mindful of own health
- Support network (friends, family, health care providers)
- Healthy food
- Exercise equipment
- Sports activities
- A positive outlook in life
- Understanding and patience
Step1
Start with being mindful about your health. Knowing that your health is as important as others. At times, the problems why people stress out too much is the fact that they worry about others too much forgetting about taking care of themselves first. If you put yourself first, it will allow you to be of help to others.
Step2
Find enjoyment in what you do. Love and live life to the fullest. Best of all, laugh a little and have fun! If you enjoy life you feel more relaxed. Some people are just too caught up with gaining material things and the problems in this world not even taking time to smell the roses.
Sure you need to work to make money to survive now and save for the future. But if all you do is work and do not have time to relax a little, how can you last so that you'll be there for the future?
Step3
Be kind to yourself and to others. Live in harmony with the people around you. There are some people that all they do is find fault about other people. Try to get along with others. It is less stressful if you have more friends than enemies. Plus having friends around when you need support can help you in many ways. Remember--no man is an island!
Step4
Control your anger. When you find yourself in a difficult situation, try not to be hostile. Manage conflicts in a diplomatic way. Learn to work your way through life's challenges with ease. Take a deep breathe and relax before you respond to any accusations if you ever get any. Think first what you are going to say to avoid complicating things.
Step5
Try not to overwork yourself. Learn to manage your work and avoid bringing it home as much as possible. If you have any pending issues that is work related, think of a game plan before you leave work and then continue tackling it the next day. Try to address what is in front of you when you are home, so that you do not miss out on more important things, like time with your family.
Step6
Recognize your stress triggers and make a mental note of what to do next time you find yourself in that situation. Learn to relax and unwind. Finding your inner peace may save your life. Relax by mediating, praying, doing yoga, vacationing, and taking casual strolls.
Step7
Eat healthy food and be active. Eating the right kind of food and having routine exercise can help relieve stress.
Step8
Stress is a serious and challenging component of health promotion, so much like eating healthy food and regular exercise. Learning to control your stress begins with a conscious commitment to make healthy changes in your life.
