There's nothing more frustrating than spending the time and money to have a manicure only to have it chip off days later. While peeling polish may look all cool and punk on rock stars, it's not such a glamorous look on us girls. The following steps should insure that your manis and pedis last for more than a millisecond.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wipe nails with rubbing alcohol to make sure your nail beds are clean and free of residue, such as lotion and, obviously, left-over nail polish.

  2. Step 2

File your nails and make sure you do not have any rough edges or uneven nail surfaces around the tips.

  3. Step 3

Apply a nourishing base coat and no more than two coats of polish (the thicker it is, the more likely it is to peel right off).

  4. Step 4

Make sure you brush on a protective, chip resistant topcoat, and repeat this step every other day to keep your color sealed.

  5. Step 5

Remove and reapply your polish once a week. No manicure, whether you do it at home or go to a salon for one, lasts forever.
