Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Peel a banana and cut it in half length-wise with a knife. Remove all of the stringy banana pieces.

  2. Step 2

Put the banana halves into an air tight freezer bag. Place the bag in the freezer. The banana halves may take several hours to freeze.

  3. Step 3

Recognize when the child is uncomfortable and suffering from infant teething pain. Teething may include any of the following symptoms or a combination of a low-grade fever, swollen gums, excessive drool, constant gnawing on objects, crankiness and general irritability.

  4. Step 4

Take one of the frozen banana halves from the freezer and hold it for the teething child to gum. Supervise the child by holding the frozen banana half because the child may gum off small chunks of banana.

Tips & Warnings
  • Teething symptoms don't include a high fever, vomiting or other more serious symptoms, but possibly an illness. Contact a physician.
  • Limit the length of time and frequency a child uses a frozen banana. Over use of any food high in natural sugars could promotes tooth decay.
  • Don't allow the child to bite off small chunks of banana as it can poses a choking hazard.
