Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Conduct research. Before you discuss diet pills with your doctor, do some preliminary research. By researching before you speak to your doctor, you can get an idea as to whether or not you agree with your doctor's advice.
Step2
Explain how much weight you would like to lose. Be up front with your doctor and tell them how much you want the diet pills to help you lose. The amount of weight you want to lose may influence your doctor's decision as to which diet pill to suggest.
Step3
Disclose any ailments and habits. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, smoke, drink or take drugs, you should disclose this information to the doctor. Your habits or ailments may interfere with diet pills effectiveness or cause unwanted side effects.
Step4
Discuss exercise. Part of any weight-loss program should include exercise. Although you are discussing taking diet pills with your doctor, you also need to talk to your doctor about your exercise habits. Your doctor may recommend that you begin an exercise program in addition to taking the diet pills.
Step5
Ask about side effects. Drugs, prescription or not, have side effects. Be sure you discuss them at length with your doctor.
