Paying for any degree may require loans and grants, but there are also scholarships out there for every concentration of study. You can get performing arts scholarships if you know how to compete for them, and if you make a memorable impression at the audition.

Instructions

    • 1

Put your best foot forward. Prepare a monologue or routine that lets you shine. Make sure you have it memorized thoroughly and practice in front of as many other people as you can before the audition. Everyone should have a monologue that is polished enough to be pulled out at a moments notice.

    • 2

Provide the viewer with contrast. The best way to show your diversity is to choose a routine or monologues that helps you use different tools effectively. Choose a routine that encompasses many genres, and choose monologues that are contrasting and varied.

    • 3

Be different. The panel for performing arts scholarships will see many applicants. Find out what types of routines and monologues are popular at the time and avoid them. You want to stand out from the crowd to get the scholarship.

    • 4

Search outside the school you are applying to. Most universities will have scholarships specifically for performing arts students, but there are independent scholarships for the performing arts, as well. Cast your search net wide in order to find the most scholarships.

    • 5

Give them what they ask for. The guidelines for every audition will be specific. These include time limits and required information on an application. You must adhere to these guidelines to please the committee, and then you can let you creative juices flow within them.
