Things You'll Need:
- Light
- Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Decide if you want white lights or color changing lights. Some light kits come with various color lenses so you can switch them out every so often.
-
Step 2
Look for a quality product that won't fall prey to corrosion, moisture or impact.
-
Step 3
Know that if you have a non-niche pool, you can still light it. There are floating lights on the market, as well as styles that install into your pool's return line and others that hang over the side of your pool.
-
Step 4
Turn off the GFCI, breaker and pool light switch before starting any work on the pool. Make sure everyone around knows not to touch the switch.
-
Step 5
Install a light in your above ground pool. There are many that are designed to go through the wall and in the ground design. You can install it anywhere around the pool without it interfering with the filtration system.
-
Step 6
Mount a pool light in your non-niche in-ground pool. Use the adjustable mounting bracket to place it wherever you want it. Stretch the electrical cord from the outlet to the pool. Position the light to shine wherever you want it.
-
Step 7
Replace a light in the niche. Catch the notch on the bottom of the fixture to the bottom of the niche. Screw in the pilot screw. If it has a clip, snap it in place.
