With today's hectic lifestyle, a spa is a wonderful way to unwind and relax, a perfect getaway after a long day of stress and hard work. The problem is deciding what to purchase. Options are almost as vast as the price range, so you'll have plenty of options. Here are some ways to compare spas so you can make the perfect choice.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Decide how many people will use your new spa or hot tub at one time. It may sound fun to have twelve people in it, but if that isn't going to happen you shouldn't have to pay for extra space.
Step2
Discuss the extras that you want in your spa. If you want a television, you'll need to decide if you also want a DVD player. Stereo systems are another possible upgrade. If you plan to sit in the hot tub for the two hours it takes to watch a feature film, then these are good investments. Consider how often you'll use such features and then decide if it's worth paying extra to have them at your finger tips.
Step3
Measure the size of the space you have to put the new spa or hot tub. You want to make sure that you're comparing equivalent sizes as well as styles to get accurate information. If your space is limited in size, you might have to remodel your bath completely. Another option is to invest in a Japanese soaking bath, which are narrower, but deeper, making it ideal for a small space
Step4
Decide what material you would like your spa to be built with. Concrete, tile and plaster spas can be coordinated very well with the design of your bath tub, however it will take a professional to install it correctly.
Step5
Set a budget. This will help eliminate a tremendous volume of spas and hot tubs from your list to compare. Aluminum and vinyl shells are less expensive and have the option of being portable.
Step6
Go to a retailer and inspect the models you are most interested in. Talk to the sales professionals. If they can't answer your questions or don't seem knowledgeable, take your business elsewhere. Find professionals you can depend on, especially for such a large purchase.
Step7
Try out the hot tubs and spas. They may not be filled with water, but climb in them, sit down and move around. See if you can stretch your feet out, and make sure the wall are deep enough for you and possible guests. Try out several models to compare the fit and feeling.
