Step 1
Schedule an appointment. Prom generates high revenue for salons and spas, so you need to book your appointment early. Otherwise they may not have an opening for you. A pedicure lasts for several days, so you can schedule it at the beginning of the week and avoid the prom rush.
-
Step 2
Decide what type of pedicure you want. You don't have to paint your toenails when you get a pedicure; a professional pedicure focuses more on cleaning, conditioning and massaging your feet. A French pedicure uses a pearl or mauve polish tipped with a thin line of white. You can get a solid nail polish or have the esthetician design your toenails. Applying crystal gems to your big toenails adds sparkle to your toes and can enhance your overall prom look.
-
Step 3
Take your dress and a pair of flip flops with you to the appointment. If you decide to have a color put on your toes, you want to make sure it complements or matches your dress. The flip flops allow the paint to dry and protect the polish from chipping or smearing on a sock or shoe.
-
Step 4
Give yourself a pedicure. While it can be pampering to have a pedicure done in a salon or spa, you don't have to spend money to get one. Start by removing any old polish and then cut and file your toenails. Soak your feet in a bath with salts, oils or Epsom salt. You also want to smooth your feet with a pumice stone, push your cuticles back, apply lotion and paint your toes.

Step 5
Have a pre-prom pedicure party. Sometimes it can be hard to reach your toenails without smudging the paint. Make sure you have toe separators, nail polish and nail polish removers. You can often find a pedicure kit in the beauty section of your local store. Take pictures during the party to include in your prom scrapbook.
