How to Knit a Wave Lattice Pattern

The wave lattice pattern is a very pretty and somewhat difficult pattern to achieve when knitting. Some advanced knowledge of stitches and the language of knitting is needed to work the wave lattice pattern and have it come out correctly. With much practice and patience you will be knitting the wave lattice pattern like a professional in no time.

Instructions

      Cast 48 stitches onto your knitting needles. Knit 1, *knit 2, purl 4*. Repeat stitches in the asterisks to the end, ending with knit 1. This is the first row of your piece.

      Begin row 2 by knitting 1, *slip nest 2 stitches to cable need and hold in front, knit 2, then knit 2 from the cable needle. Purl 2.* Once again, repeat series of stitches until the end and end with knit 1.

      Use the instructions for row one to do row 3.

      Knit 1, purl 2. *Knit 2, slip nest 2 stitches to the cable needle and hold in back, knit 2, then purl 2 from the cable needle*. Repeat from asterisk to asterisk, ending by knitting 5. You have now finished row 4.

      Use the pattern of knit 1, *purl 4, knit 2* for row 5, ending the row with knit 1.

      Start row 6 with knit 1, *purl 2, slip next 2 stitches to the cable needle and hold in back, knit 2 then knit 2 from the cable needle*, once again repeating stitches between asterisks until row is ended, ending with a knit 1

      Continue working this pattern, starting over with row one and working your way through row eight, until you are comfortable with it.
