Whether on the range or on the hunt, archery requires its own dress tips. Unlike sports like golf, archery dressing tips are functional. Each choice is made with an eye toward how it will affect the archer's body temperature, ability to aim, and general technique. Good archery starts with what you bring to the range, and good hunting skill starts with gear.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Dress for the season. A lot of archery competitions take place in the autumn months, or just before October's hunting season. The weather can be iffy, a shivering bowhunter or archer is going to have trouble aiming. Bundle up if it's been cold.

  2. Step 2

Dress for sun. Bring a hat if it's going to be sunny. As with any outdoor activities, too much sun can cause burns or burnouts; shield yourself properly for the outdoor range or the hunt.

  3. Step 3

Consider protective gear like arm guards and gloves. Archers use specific hand and arm wear to help protect the shooting arm or to enhance the technique; bring these along to the field, especially for competitive events.

  4. Step 4

Wear proper hunting clothes while bow hunting. Hunting accidents can stem from a hunter in the wrong kind of dress; use bright orange warning gear to make sure other hunters can tell you apart from game.

  5. Step 5

When dressing for archery, the obvious and very essential tip is to avoid any shirt that at all restricts arm movement. Any kind of tight shirt or sleeve is definitely a bad idea. Also avoid excessively heavy jackets or other clothes that will prevent you from the agile positioning that is crucial to good archery. Again, you may need to stay warm: down vests, on sale at many hunting stores, are perfect for the archer, providing thermal protection for the torso without encumbering the arm.
