Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Small Graduation from cake decorating store
- Material to match the graduation color
- Tape measure
- Fabric chalk
- Sewing machine or needle if hand stitching
- Matching thread
- Elastic
- White fabric
- White thread
Step1
Purchase a graduation cap from a party supply store in the color of the graduation gown that the student will be wearing. These are usually used to set atop a cake. Look in that department.
Step2
Glue elastic to the sides of the cap. Make it long enough to hold tightly to the goose head. You don't want the cap to be blowing in the wind.
Step3
Find the length of the lawn goose from the neck to the tip of the tail. Measure the lawn goose from the neck to the feet. Measure the width of the neck. Add the measurements together and add 1 inch.
Step4
Cut a piece of material in the same color as the cap in the shape of a circle with the diameter the number you got in the calculations. Draw a diameter on the wrong side of the material in fabric chalk. Measure from one side the distance from the neck to the back and make a mark. Measure the distance from the neck to the feet on the other side and make a mark. Make a circle in the center that touches both marks.
Step5
Cut the material around the circle and down the line 1 inch to form a V in the front. Turn under a half inch hem on the outside of the circle, press, and turn under 1 inch, again pressing. Turn under the hem around the neck and stitch down.
Step6
Fold in half and stitch together a piece of material right sides together. The material should be 4 inches longer than the width of the neck and 2 inches in height. Stitch three sides together and turn right side out. Turn in the end and stitch shut.
Step7
Wrap the white scarf around the neck of the goose. Slide the gown over the head and put the cap on your goose graduate.
