Feathers are a beautiful part of nature that often go unnoticed for their creative and utilitarian qualities. From beautiful red pheasant feathers to simple seagull feathers, any kind and size can be used around the house. You can collect feathers that you find, that fall from your feather duster or purchase a variety of different sizes, colors and types in your local craft store.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Use a single soft feather to clean delicate surfaces around your house. The fine lines and details of decorative pieces, glassware and silver can be difficult to dust with even a feather duster. By using one single feather you can more easily clean those intricate details.
Step2
Dust the fingerboards of stringed instruments with ease by using a single feather. Anyone who has ever cleaned a stringed instrument knows how hard it can be to use a cloth for cleaning in the tight spaces under the strings. A feather is quick and effective and takes up virtually no space in the instrument case.
Step3
Tie a few feathers together with a bell. Secure the string to a stick for a cat toy that keep your pets running around the house for hours on end.
Step4
Collect feathers for kids' crafts. The creative minds of children will find endless uses for feathers. Dream catchers, decorations and ornaments or a feathered fan, feathers are the perfect addition to your arts and crafts box. You can even paint them, add beads to the quill or string them together with a needle and thread.
Step5
Decorate your home with beautiful feather bouquets. Elegant peacock feathers in a beautiful vase or a collection of eagle and pheasant feathers in a ceramic pot can add a unique touch of nature to your home decor.
Step6
Make a quill pin with a feather. Cut the tip of the hollow shaft of the feather at an angle with a sharp knife to make a nib. Cut a small slit into the center of the long side of the nib, dip the quill into ink and write.
