How to Make Molasses Treats for a Horse

Your horse will love munching on some crunchy and sweet molasses treats. They are easy to make, and made from healthy ingredients. You can use them as a reward after a hard day of training, or just to show your horse that you love him. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1/4 cups old-fashioned oatmeal, uncooked
  • ½ c. grated carrots
  • ½ cup. brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp. molasses
  • Oil
  • 2 cookie sheets

    Molasses Cookie Horse Treats

  1. Step 1

    Put the white sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Mix the molasses, grated apples and/or carrots, bran and flour in a large bowl. If the dough is too wet, add a little more flour. The dough should be fairly dry, but it should stick together.

  3. Step 3

    Drop the dough by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.

  4. Step 4

    Put some oil on the bottom of a flat-bottomed glass and dip the glass in the bowl of white sugar. Press the dough with the bottom of the glass to slightly flatten the molasses treats.

  5. Step 5

    Bake the molasses cookie treats for ten minutes at 375 degrees F. Store in a sealed container.

  7. Step 1

    Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl.

  8. Step 2

    Add water until the mixture forms a soft dough and mix until completely blended.

  9. Step 3

    Form the dough into patties and place them on oiled cookie sheets.

  10. Step 4

    Bake the treats at 365 F until crispy and brown.

  11. Step 5

    Store the oatmeal molasses horse treats in a sealed container.
