Though Fabarge eggs are probably out of the budget, here are some tips on how to move beyond the fizzy tablets and decorate Easter egg ornaments you'll keep for years to come. Gently put a hole at the top and bottom of each egg with a small stick pin.

Blow through one end, forcing the raw egg from the shell. Swirl through soapy water and rinse well. Allow the egg shell to dry thoroughly before moving on to the next steps.

Paint the Easter egg shell with a base color of your choice. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Cut out a picture or design and glue to the egg using wood glue. Continue decorating with ink, paint or markers.

Decorate the Easter egg by gluing ribbon, sequins, feathers or any embellishment of your choice to the egg ornament, making sure you cover the holes you made to clean the egg ornament. You can make the ornament as embellished as you'd like.

Carefully attach a loop of ribbon or fish line at the top if you want to hang the egg ornament. Make sure the loop is securely glued to avoid damage from falls.
