How to Equip a Baseball Dugout
American through and through, baseball is a favorite summer sport. You can make it even better for your team by equipping their dugout with the items they need to play at their peak level. A simple checklist will make baseball season fun for all the players.

1
Set up a water cooler in the dugout. Perhaps the most important item, it will keep the players hydrated throughout the game. Choose a model that comes with an attached cup holder for easy access.
-
2
Keep the catcher safe by bringing the facemask and chest protector to each game. Since the playing positions often rotate in youth baseball, consider bringing an extra for quick changing. It will also provide a backup should the other break a strap.

3
Bring a lightweight, fence-mounted bat holder. When you get to the dugout, place it just inside the entrance so the players can easily pick up their bats on the way out. Hanging the bats prevents them from rolling around on the dugout floor.
-
4
Box up enough extra balls to keep the players warming up their arms before the game and during down time. Keep the box near the bat holder.
-
5
Equip the dugout with a First Aid kit. Scrapes can't be avoided in baseball where sliding into home plate is common. The players are going to sustain bumps and bruises. Pack your kit with the items you will use most often: sterilizing wipes, large and small bandages, chemical ice bags and athletic wraps for pulled muscles.
-
6
Stuff a few extra baseball gloves and helmets into a duffel bag. The younger the players, the more likely someone will forget an item. Equip the dugout with enough emergency backups and the game will run smoothly.
