Llamas are very important animals in some parts of the world. However, most people enjoy llamas as means of transportation. If you are planning to ride a llama, you should know how to do so. The following steps will explain exactly what you should do in order to ride a llama.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Calm the llama. Have a friend of yours pet and calm the llama while you get on the animal.
Step2
Board the llama. Put your hands on the animal where the neck meets the body. This is called the withers of the llama. Using this area of the body, hoist yourself onto the animal. It is important to be as gentle and quick as you can when you do this. You do not want to injure or frighten the llama.
Step3
Balance yourself on the llama. You should always sit up straight and hold onto the reigns, much like you would a horse.
Step4
Use these same reins to steer and stop the llama. To turn the llama left, pull forcefully on the left rein, and to turn the llama right, use the same action except with the right rein. To stop the llama, pull straight back on the reins toward your stomach.
Step5
Remove yourself from the llama after the ride, just like you boarded him. Put your hands on the withers again and hoist yourself off the llama.
