How to Make a Feather Wreath
It is fun and easy to make a feather wreath for a home decoration or a gift for others. Use either artificial or real feather for your wreath and you'll have a variety of color choices. From traditional wild turkey feathers to fuzzy blue feathers, this type of wreath will add a touch of charm and natural beauty to any area of your home.

1
Decide on the color and type of feathers you want to use to make your wreath. Feathers are available at most local craft stores, online auction sites and craft supply websites such as A. C. Moore (see link in Resources).
-
2
Determine the type of wreath base you are going to use for your feather wreath. A simple straw wreath form makes a good base for feather wreaths. The straw forms are available at the same places as the feathers.
-
-
3
Push the feathers into the straw form on an angle creating a ring around the wreath as a first layer of feathers.
-
4
Use a pencil to poke starter holes for the feathers in your wreath if you have difficulty inserting the feathers into the straw.
-
5
Repeat the process adding a second layer of feathers around the wreath making sure to overlap the feathers.
-
6
Add as many feather layers as you want onto your wreath until you have the look you want.
-
7
Attach a bow at the bottom of your wreath using a hot glue gun if you desire.

Tips & Warnings
Only cover the bottom third of the wreath with feather layers for a variation of the full feathered wreath.
If you have access to feathers found in nature such as wild turkey or seagull feathers, use them instead of purchasing the feathers.
If the feathers you are using are small or have soft ends, use a glue gun to apply them directly onto the wreath form.
Glue feather boas directly onto the wreath form for a different feather wreath look.
Make wreath forms from vines, twigs, styrofoam or metal; however, if you use any of these wreath forms, you will have to glue the feathers into place.
