Step 1
Take a step back from the ball and look right at the hole. Imagine exactly where you want the ball to go. Small things can make all the difference, so be positive and imagine it rolling right into the cup, not over the lip.
-
Step 2
Crouch behind the ball and read the break leading to the hole. If you read the break well, then both your visualization and your putt will be more accurate.
-
Step 3
Address the ball and take a few practice strokes. Imagine the ball making contact with your club and then rolling on the perfect line right into the hole. Imagine how the contact feels with your arms, in addition to visualizing it in your mind.
-
Step 4
Imagine that the line you want the ball to take is as wide as the hole, itself. This is nearly true, with the exception of the hole's outside edges and should reduce your nerves during the putt.
-
Step 5
Stroke the ball and keep your head down as it rolls toward the hole. Instead of immediately looking up to see where it went, be confident and visualize a successful shot.
