Greek mythology includes the stories and beliefs of the Ancient Greeks. It's based on Greek gods, goddesses, demi-gods, creatures and stories. The religious beliefs are shown through literature and the daily practices of the Greeks. Follow these steps to discover Greek mythology.

  1. Step 1

    Visit the website Greek Mythology. This website offers information and texts on the Olympian gods, the Titans, myths, places and creatures. Select the link for the subject and read the information provided. Additional links for related topics are embedded in the text.

  2. Step 2

    Play "Wrath of the Gods" by Mythweb. The game immerses you into Greek mythology by using heroes, gods and monsters from Greek mythology. The characters are interactive and talk and respond according to your actions. You can buy the game from Mythweb.

  3. Step 3

    Read "The Odyssey" or "The Iliad" by Homer. Both of these ancient Greek epics relate to the Trojan War and show the role of the Greek gods. In "The Odyssey," Odysseus travels home from the Trojan War. "The Iliad" follows Achilles and his warriors through the Trojan War.

  4. Step 4

    Take a class on Greek mythology. Universal Class offers a basic course with continuing education credit online. You have six months to complete the course and can work at your own pace. Some universities like the University of Washington provide free courses on Greek mythology.

  5. Step 5

    Watch movies based on Greek mythology. Amazon's "Favorite Greek Mythology List" hosts classic movies like "Jason and the Argonauts," "Clash of the Titans" and "Ulysses." "Troy" features Brad Pitt and is based on "The Iliad." The Disney cartoon "Hercules" uses humor and animation to bring Greek mythology to a level kids can easily understand.
