This recipe will show you how to make a quick and easy berry dessert that tastes delicious. The crumble top is similar to the topping on an apple crumb pie, and complements the berries perfectly. Read on to learn how to make a berry crumble.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 500 g of fresh or frozen berries
  • 4 oz. sugar, separated
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 stick of unsalted butter cut into small cubes, at room temperature
  • A 9-inch round oven-proof baking dish
  • A large mixing bowl
  • An oven
  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. Step 2

Put 3 oz. of the sugar, all of the flour and all of the butter in the mixing bowl. Using your fingers, crumble up the butter until it is evenly dispersed and the fat crumbs are fairly small.

  3. Step 3

Place the berries in the baking dish and toss with the remaining 1 oz. of sugar.

  4. Step 4

Top the berries with the crumble mixture evenly, making sure that all of the berries are covered.

  5. Step 5

Bake in oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

  6. Step 6

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (Haagen Dazs tastes amazing with this dish).

Tips & Warnings
  • If your baking dish is shallow, place a cookie sheet underneath the dish while baking in order to catch any fruit that bubbles up.
  • The wait time is not optional, unless you like the feeling of a burnt tongue. Your patience will be rewarded if you give the berries the full 10 minutes to cool down.
