A photofacial is a new type of cosmetic treatment. Unlike surgeries, which require cutting or chemically burning the skin, a photofacial uses pulsating light to make skin look younger, healthier and clear. Here's how you can choose a photofacial doctor that is right for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find more than one photofacial doctor in your area that specializes in the cosmetic treatment you want to get. For example, if you want to have your pores reduced, call up a photofacial center and ask how many of those types of cosmetic treatments the staff performed last year.

  2. Step 2

Make appointments for consultations with at least five different doctors. Each doctor may provide a free consultation.

  3. Step 3

Prepare a list of questions you would like to ask each photofacial doctor. For example, you might want to know how long he's been performing photofacials. You may ask to see before and after pictures of the doctor's other patients. Make sure you see examples of the kind of cosmetic treatment you hope to get.

  4. Step 4

Choose the photofacial doctor that you like the best. To do this, consider the doctor's experience, price, location of her office, personality and other factors based on the questions you asked during your consultation.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you ask your doctor for an outline of your cosmetic treatment plan. Each doctor might have different ideas as to the number of treatments, visits, prices and when they are available to begin your cosmetic treatments. You can use these different time lines to help you pick a doctor that fits into your schedule and budget.
