The iPodRip iPod manager lets you rip songs from your iPod back to your MAC. This is great if you lose your music collection or just need a backup. You can also use iPodRip to play music directly from your iPod on your computer, manage your iPod's contents and transfer files faster than most iPod management clients.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the iPodRip software from the Little App Factory website. Go to TheLittleAppFactory.com (see Resources below) and chose the iPodRip icon. Select the download link and choose where you want to save it on your computer.

  2. Step 2

Install iPodRip. Double-click on the iPodRip.dmg file. This will mount the DMG file that contains the program. Drag the green iPodRip application icon on the left side of the window to your applications folder to install.

  3. Step 3

Recover songs from your iPod back to your disk drive. Once you have iPodRip installed, open it and recover your songs. Click on the "Recover iPod" button at the top of the application and choose if you want to recover to iTunes or somewhere on your hard drive.

  4. Step 4

Import songs from your iPod to your computer. If you don't want to recover all of the songs, select the ones you do want to transfer to your computer and press the "Import" button at the top of the application.

  5. Step 5

Play songs from your iPod through your MAC. You can play songs directly from iPodRip. Just choose which song you want and play it back through your computer's speakers. By playing songs directly off your iPod, you do not have to transfer them to your hard drive and take up valuable space to listen to your music.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check out some of the Little App Factory's other programs, like NetFlix Freak, which lets you manage your Netflix queue with many features not available on the Netflix website.
  • The iPodRipper management software is not free, so to use it past its trial you will have to pay for a license.
