Step 1
Use the 4 cups of wine at the Passover Seder to symbolize each of the 4 different redemptions as promised by God in the Book of Exodus Chapter 6, Verses 6 and 7.
-
Step 2
Drink the first cup during the Kadeish, or first part of the Seder. The participants should pour wine for each other to symbolize their freedom from slavery. This cup represents the redemption "I will take you out of Egypt" and is consumed immediately after the father of the house recites the Kiddush.
-
Step 3
Complete Magid, the fifth part of the Seder with the second cup of wine. This part is literally the "telling" of the story of Passover. This cup represents the redemption "I will deliver you from Egyptian slavery."
-
Step 4
Pour the third cup of wine before Bareich, the 12th part of the Seder. The Bareich is then recited and participants drink the cup of wine. This cup represents "I will redeem you with a demonstration."
-
Step 5
Recite a song of praise called the Hallel during the 13th part of the Seder. Afterward, drink the fourth cup of wine which represents the redemption "I will acquire you as a nation."
