Botox stands for botulinum toxin A, a poisonous bacterium that causes botulism. Although this biological agent has been deemed safe, it is by no means a convenient alternative to a wrinkle-free life. Too much Botox or Botox injected at the wrong site can produce droopy eyes, extreme muscle paralysis and other conditions. Here are some less-invasive, microbial-free ways to reduce those unwanted wrinkles.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Injecting collagen into the skin is a healthy alternative to introducing toxins just a few inches from their brain. Collagen produces a similar effect without the unnecessary paralysis, and collagen fillers usually produce longer lasting effects than Botox.

  2. Step 2

Use a highly recommended line of anti-aging cosmetics and skin care products. These are sometimes referred to as "cosmeceuticals" for their drug-like ability to prevent aging. Through the use of small molecules, these products target the skin's stem cells to activate skin renewal. Although a less-invasive therapeutic agent, a cosmeceutical may be a bit pricey.

  3. Step 3

Use anti-aging products that contain AHA, or Alpha Hydroxy Acids, the active ingredients in chemical peels and other such solutions. These products tend to cost less than $100. Additionally, Vitamin C used as a topical agent can heal sun-damaged skin.

  4. Step 4

Use a healthy regimen of anti-aging and moisturizing skin care products every night to protect and rejuvenate your skin. Discipline is key in fighting those wrinkles. While these products may not provide you with instant results, they will have longer lasting effects that will look and feel more natural.
