A hammock chair, also called a hanging chair, is a hammock that is suspended from a chair stand. It takes up less space than a regular hammock because a person sits in the chair more or less vertically.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the specific style of hammock to choose. The standard size has a spreader bar and is suitable for outdoor use. The indoor style takes up less room by not using a spreader bar and a double-hammock chair is wide enough for two people.

  2. Step 2

Select the right fabric. Cotton is the most comfortable and the most popular for indoor use. Polyester has higher durability against humidity, salt water and ultra-violet radiation, although it is not as flexible as cotton.

  3. Step 3

Select a quilted hammock for cooler climates. Two layers of fabric are used instead of rope and separated with fiber filler.

  4. Step 4

Make sure the hammock you choose comes with a cloth, woven rope or other material with an O ring which will allow the hammock to be hung from a chair stand. The chair stand should be made with the hammock to ensure they fit together.

  5. Step 5

Separate the sides of the hammock with a spreader bar to keep it open and maintain its chair shape. These hammock chairs are usually hung to a tree or an outdoor stand. Hammock chairs without spreader bars will need to be hung higher because they will be deeper.
