How to Tip a Golf Pro

In golf, you can tip the valet, the starter, your caddie, the fore caddie and the clubhouse manager. However, tipping your golf pro can be complicated. He's a "professional," and slipping him a few extra bucks each time you utilize him can be bad form. However, there are other ways to show your appreciation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Buy them a gift certificate to the club pro shop or a restaurant. Even if they receive discounts at the pro shop, the money can be well used and who doesn't find a meal more enjoyable when someone else picks up the tab?
Step2
Take the pro to lunch to talk about golf. You can both get something out of this tip. Not only are you investing in the golf pro as a friend, but you get to pick their brains to improve your game.
Step3
Give your pro tickets to a sporting event, concert or some other happening. Make sure the tickets are top shelf.
Step4
Bring more clients to your golf pro. Most pros continually look to expand their business.
Step5
Give cash. This is something that a golf pro may accept around the holidays time. Give him $100 to $200 for a year of great service and thank them for his time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most golf courses have no tipping rules. Check the rules for the course before you put yourself or the golf pro in an awkward situation.
