How to Make Dishwasher Deodorant
If you use a dishwasher, you have probably noticed that after many uses your dishwasher begins to take on a strange baked food and soap odor that fills the whole house. Many people simply run the dishwasher while empty. However, an empty wash doesn't usually remove all of the odor. Adding a few extra ingredients to your empty wash cycle can improve your results and effectively deodorize your dishwasher. Does this Spark an idea?

Sprinkle 1/2 cup of borax along the bottom of your empty dishwasher before adding your deodorant. Allow the borax to set for at least 30 minutes before running your dishwasher.

Make your dishwasher deodorant by squeezing the juice of one whole lemon into a small bowl. Be sure to remove the seeds. Add 2 tbsp. of white vinegar to the lemon juice and place the liquid in the detergent holder of your dishwasher. If you have excess deodorant, pour it onto the bottom of your dishwasher.

Add an extra touch for more stubborn odors by combining the liquid with 1 tbsp. of baking soda. Mix the ingredients into an even paste before adding it to the detergent holder of your dishwasher.

Run your dishwasher on normal cycle, and enjoy the affects of your refreshing dishwasher deodorant.

Keep your dishwasher smelling fresh by adding lemon juice to your dishwasher detergent with every cycle. Lemon is a natural de-greaser and disinfectant that will clean your dishes while deodorizing your dishwasher. Borax can be used regularly between washes as well, to keep your dishwasher smelling fresh. Simply sprinkle a light layer along the bottom of your dishwasher, leaving it until the next wash.
