One great way to improve the look of a swimsuit is with a cover-up. Cover-ups are great to help you feel more comfortable in beach attire. However, as you go shopping for swimsuit cover-ups there are some things to keep in mind.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid the giant t-shirt look in opaque cotton if you want a sexy or chic look. While these can be great cover-ups, protecting you from the sun and completely covering your body and swimsuit, this look is not best to enhance your body's good parts. However, a sheer dress cover-up, especially if it's tailored to create a small waist can be extremely sexy.

  2. Step 2

Figure out what you want to cover-up. If you like your upper body but hate your lower body, a sarong, a skirt wrap, or cabana pants may be for you. If you like your thighs, but hate your hips, or want to cover a little belly, try a flirty short skirt. If you want to cover up more of your body, try a tube dress, a caftan or a little sundress.

  3. Step 3

Watch your fabric prints, same as you would in any other clothing. If you have a petite body type, large fabric prints will make you look bigger and smaller prints will help you look smaller. Avoid horizontal stripes no matter what body type you have. The best choice may be something in a simple color that matches the colors in your swimsuit.

on 12/19/2008 I recently got a cover up called a Towelini and it was great. It's cool because you can use it like a beach towel as well. Any way, I just wanted to mention that. You can see it on www.towelini.com
