Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Safari excursion.
- Hunting gear.
Step1
Find where crocodile hunting is legal. Crocodiles can be found all over the world with Australia and the African countries being the most popular. The killing of crocodiles is now illegal in Australia and in Africa; many governments have called for humane kills only and restrict hunters to designated areas.
Step2
Book up a safari (see resources) which is by far the easiest and safest way to hunt crocs. Many excursions will give you the opportunity to combine this with other game, letting you hunt various different species. Go in hunting season (July to December) when there is less rain.
Step3
Go with a guide who will be able to show you the most likely places to locate the crocodiles and will be familiar with their habits and behavior, making them easier to hunt.
Step4
Have the right equipment with you. Most safaris will supply you with rifles and ammunition and the best ones to use will depend on the size of the crocodile you are hunting. A medium caliber rifle is usually recommended for most species but guides will give specific advice depending on the area and restrictions.
Step5
Keep your eyes open all the time and remain on guard to spot crocodiles as they are naturally camouflaged by the river and foliage. A crocodile's brain is very small so any shot must be extremely precise for a humane kill.
