Sea salt is hailed by cooks and connoisseurs as a more flavorful alternative to regular table salt, and it is touted for its high level of natural minerals. In many cooking applications, sea salt can be directly substituted for table salt.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase sea salt online (try Salt Trader and Salt Works sites) or in health food stores. You'll find grey-tinged Celtic Sea Salt, basic white sea salt and other mined and evaporated natural salts.

  2. Step 2

Use sea salt in soups and stews for extra mineral content and a more subtle salt flavor than the sharper table salt.

  3. Step 3

Substitute sea salt for your regular table salt. You'll need special sea salt grinders or salt shakers because natural sea salt contains no anti-caking agents.

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle sea salt on fresh sliced vegetables drizzled in balsamic vinegar and olive oil for a delicious appetizer.

  5. Step 5

Make fresh sauerkraut using sea salt, which will destroy bacteria and naturally preserve and enhance the nutritional content of cabbage through the natural fermentation process.

  6. Step 6

Sprinkle homemade whole wheat soft pretzels with sea salt for a tasty snack that's good for you.

  7. Step 7

Use sea salt where you previously used table salt. Use fine grit salt in baked goods and casseroles.
