How to Use Your Gmail Account for Online File Storage

Gmail gives you a nearly unlimited amount of storage--almost 5GB at time of writing. Here are instructions on using Gmail for storage using a Firefox plugin called GSpace.

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Firefox browser
  • Gspace plugin
  1. Step 1

    Download and install the Gspace plugin here:

    http://www.getgspace.com/download.html

  2. Step 2

    You would need to restart your Firefox browser and launch the plugin by clicking on 'Tools' and then GSpace.

  3. Step 3

    You will be presented with the Gspace console.

  4. Step 4

    Click on 'Manage Accounts'. You will need to enter your Gmail account information.

  5. Step 5

    Once you are logged in, you will be presented with options on uploading your files. Simply navigate and select the files that you wish to upload and click on the arrow pointing right in the middle of the console.

  6. Step 6

    Your upload will take a while depending on the speed of your connection.

  7. Step 7

    The file should then appear in your GMail account after it has been successfully uploaded.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to separate your uploads according to file sizes.
  • Gmail has a limit of 19MB per file uploaded. Do not go beyond this.
