After you roast your holiday turkey, there's always the need to make a good sauce or gravy. Here’s the easiest way to make a delicious gravy without even soiling another pot.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Roasting pan with drippings after removing the turkey as described in "How to Easily Roast the Perfect Holiday Turkey"
  • Turkey stock
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Pepper grinder
  • Whisk
  1. Step 1

Place roasting pan across two stove eyes and set the heat to medium low in both of them.

  2. Step 2

Add stock if drippings are not at least ½ inch deep uniformly across the bottom of the pan.

  3. Step 3

Sprinkle in the flour and bring to a boil, whisking rapidly to prevent sticking and to stir the mixture so that it is smooth and homogenized.

  4. Step 4

Before the mixture reaches the desired thickness, generously grind fresh pepper, then stir in briskly. Taste then salt and pepper as needed, then stir more.

  5. Step 5

Remove from heat once the gravy is thickened and pour into a gravy dish. Serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the gravy thickens too quickly or becomes thicker than desired, add stock a little at a time, stirring vigorously.
